The 2015 Tony Awards were historic for women and we wanted to do something special—something that would be timeless—for the women who took home awards and for all the women watching at home who were inspired by them. And so, we asked legendary photographer Brigitte Lacombe to take portraits of a few of our Tony-winning friends who brought feminism to the forefront of the theatre community in the 2014-2015 season. We couldn’t think of anyone better than Brigitte to capture the individuality of these women: Lisa Kron , Ruthie Ann Miles, Kelli O’Hara, and Jeanine Tesori. In the following photos, you’ll not only see beautiful images, but images that capture these women at moments on the precipice, with minds turning towards the future. As Jeanine Tesori said at the Tony Awards, “For girls, you have to see it to be it.” Indeed, we do.
